The watchmaking manufacture of the company is the oldest in the world and the company is in business for more than 250 years. Jean-Marc Vacheron opened his fine watchmaking workshop in Geneva’s Saint Gervais quarter. The tradition was continued by his grandson, Jacques-Barthélémy, who exported these watches to Europe, 1810 onwards. By the beginning of the nineteenth century, the company was highly established and the manufacture was named after Jacques-Barthélémy and François Constantin who was a seasoned traveller.
The company opened its first shop on Quai de l’Ile in Geneva in 1906 that is present till date. It celebrated 250 years in business in 2005 by building a manufacture in Plan-les-Ouates.
